Review:

I don’t necessarily have arachnophobia, I let the spiders go about their business, as long as it does not interfere with mine. But when spiders are in my business, they need to be gently escorted from my household. Kill It With Fire VR takes a different approach, where all spiders need to be eradicated using any method possible, at no matter what the cost. Developed by Casey Donnellan Games, this VR title puts you in the first person perspective of an exterminator tasked with killing as many spiders as possible within each level. As you rid of the spider problem, newer areas are unlocked within the level to explore and potentially provide upgraded powers and inevitably, more spiders.

Many objects in the environment are interactive, and can be used to accomplish your mission of ridding these eight-legged insects. Throw video game consoles, cleaning supplies, boxes and more at the spiders to up your kill count. There are also special optional objectives to complete, such as kill a spider by throwing a book. Once a number of the objectives are met within a level, a special bonus objective can triggered to test your accuracy by flooding the level with spiders and giving you a specific set of instructions on how to kill them. Besides throwing objects at spiders, they can be murdered with a variety of weapons such as ninja stars, and yes even as the title suggests, incinerated.

The controls in Kill It With Fire VR are tight, and the sound ambience is perfect to set the mood. You can detect the location of a spider by listening to the squeaking that gets consistently louder the closer you are. The graphics are not something that stacks up to AAA titles such as Horizon Call of the Mountain, but that’s not what you are here for. You are here for killing spiders with a wide array of methods at your disposal. It is super satisfying to bring out the flamethrower and scorch a swarm of spiders as needed. Kill It With Fire VR is a perfect example of how a first-person flat screen game can be turned into an excellent casual VR experience. If you like easy to play first-person VR experiences, or just want to kill some spiders, it’s definitely worth checking out Kill It With Fire VR.
