Have you ever just wanted to get into a fight? Well, not in real life, but maybe a VIRTUAL fight? Developer South East Games has done just that with their updated release of their million seller, Paint the Town Red. Now with Paint the Town Red VR, you can strap on your PlayStation VR2 headset and jump into this brawler instantly! Featuring scenarios such as a biker bar and a disco, you can run around and pick up a variety of objects that can be utilized as weapons to vanquish your foes. Chairs, glass bottles, knives, swords, and more are highly recommended as the key to your survival. As you fight, your special power meter can be filled to to perform an awesome attack which can clear an area full of enemies instantly.
There are three different modes to Paint The Town Red VR for you to explore, and all feature a similar mode of combat. Use your fists, legs, or weapons to survive. The first mode is called “Scenarios” which basically put you inside a level looking for a fight. The premise is simple, fight to survive. Each scenario is jam packed full of weapons and enemies, so be prepared! The second gameplay mode “Arena” spawns various enemies in waves that increase in difficulty as you complete them. There also is an endless mode as well, if you are up to a real challenge! The last mode is called “Beneath”, and here is where Paint the Town Red VR really shines. This is a rogue-like game with a story where you will traverse through procedurally generated levels with various weapons, upgrades, and enemy types. Oh and don’t forget about the four Elder Gods, as these bosses await you for an even greater challenge.
Paint the Town Red VR is just plain fun. There is nothing better than grabbing a weapon and going to town in a room full of baddies. The pixelated blood flows greatly in Paint the Town Red VR, which is true to its namesake. There requires some skill with dodging and looking for openings to strike. Don’t think you will be able to just waltz through a level, you need to be constantly moving and upgrading weapons. Priced at $19.99, this is well worth the price of admission. And, if you already own the flatscreen Paint the Town Red, you can purchase the Paint The Town Red VR for half price ($9.99). My favorite thing about this game is it’s easy to just jump right in and do some fighting for 20-30 minutes at a time. If you are in the mood for some hand-to-hand combat, Paint the Town Red VR is the game for you!
